2025 Jurassic World. San Diego Comic Con
The brief was to build a Comic-Con exclusive worthy of the fans who line up for it. The answer came from the franchise's own mythology: in The Lost World, a T. rex rampages through San Diego. So what if, for one weekend, the "Buck" T. rex escaped and crashed the very convention that celebrates it?
That single idea drove every packaging decision. The box became the convention itself, drawing on the architecture of the San Diego Convention Center so the figure looks like it is bursting out of the show floor. A "When Fans Ruled the Earth" banner riffs on the film's iconic museum sign and turns the joke knowing and self-aware. Every surface carries SDCC-specific detail, rewarding the collector who studies it as closely as the figure inside.
The concept demanded precision across art direction, structural design, and global production, all built to honor both Universal's source material and the collectors who would scrutinize every inch. It earned a TAGIE nomination for Innovative Art and Design Visuals of the Year and became the fastest-selling SDCC release in Mattel's history. The idea came first, and the craft followed. The line earned its place, and sold out before most fans reached the booth.
